Leos Janacek (1854-1928)
Janacek, with his folk music backgrounds, rides the line between Romanticism and Modernism. While often compared to fellow Czech composer Dvorak, his music is far more adventurous and pushes the boundaries for his era. Even if he is not always cited as a trendsetter, his most famous works are revolutionary as any of his modernist contemporaries.

Aram Khachaturian (1903-1978)
